The 2025 Lake Iroquois Plant Survey is now available on the LIA website here. Every year the LIA brings in a professional to do a plant survey of the lake in the spring and again in the fall to monitor the Eurasian watermilfoil infestation and to track the resurgence of native aquatic plant species in the lake. This year’s surveys once again show that the work of the LIA has done over the last decade to reduce and control the invasive milfoil has been a huge success with milfoil found in less than 4% of the survey points this year. This contrats to the 2019 survey in which milfoil was found in 86% of the survey points, prior to the first ProcellaCOR treatment in 2021.  Since that first treatment in 2021, the milfoil has remained under control and native aquatic species have re-populated the lake creating a healthy and vibrant aquatic ecosystem.  The transformation of Lake Iroquois was made possible by the dedicated work of LIA volunteers and by the generous financial support of association members and the towns of Hinesburg, Williston, and Richmond.  The continued support of the entire community is important to be able to continue to protect the lake and ensure that the lake never again suffers an out-of-control milfoil infestation. Please join or renew your membership and consider adding an extra donation to continue to keep Lake Iroquois beautiful.
