Rules of the Ice-Out Challenge

  1. The clock and flag used to measure ice-out will be placed on the ice no later than February 15. A camera is mounted to focus on the clock.

  2. All tickets for the Ice-Out Challenge are sold online via the LIA website: www.lakeiroquois.org/iceout. All ticket sales are final and will not be refunded.

  3. Entries will be accepted until 11:59:59 p.m. March 1, 2023.

  4. All checks for tickets sent via US Postal Service must be postmarked no later than March 3, 2023.

  5. When the clock stops, two (2) or more Ice-Out Committee members or LIA Board members shall verify the time at the site and take a photo. Winning time is the closest minute, either before or after the stopped clock. The second hand at or before the 30 second mark is considered the minute before. The second hand between 31 and 59 seconds is considered the minute after.

  6. The winner will be determined by those verifying the winning time.

  7. The winning time will be announced immediately but not the name of the winner.

  8. The winner(s) shall be contacted after a two-week period to allow all checks to clear and expenses to be accounted for. The winner’s name can then also be publicly announced.

  9. The winner receives 50% of the proceeds after expenses. In the event of more than one person guessing the winning time, the 50% portion of the proceeds will be evenly split among those holding winning tickets.

  10. A Certificate of Winnings will be presented to the winner(s) along with the winnings.
